What is a Competency Management System?

A 'competence' is a single statement that accurately summarises the skill and knowledge that an individual must have to carry out the required task to the level required for employment.

When we refer to a complex task or a series of tasks then we must have a number of competencies to specify accurately the ability of the person we want to employ or level to which we will train.

The Competency Management System is a systematic approach to all the stages necessary in developing an individual employee to the levels required for employment in the specified job.
